History of Gambling in Eswatini
Eswatini was not always the independent country that it is today. Back when it was still known as Swaziland, the country was under the rule of the British. For many years the country was allowed to have its king while still under the control of the British.
Under this control, the country was introduced to gambling in 1963. Back then, only two forms of gambling were allowed. This law was still held even after the country gained independence in 1968. And even today, gambling is legal in Eswatini.

As we stated before, the first gambling act was passed in 1963. It consisted of the Casino Act and the Lottery Act of 1963. Under these acts, games of chance in the casino and the lottery were legalized and regulated in Swaziland when it was still known under this name.
The Ministry of Tourism, Environmental Affairs Communication regulates all gambling activities in Eswatini casinos must get a license from this authority to conduct their businesses in Eswatini. This was stated in the Bookmakers and Taxation Act of 1970.
It was reported that the Ministry issued online gambling licenses as well. However, theirmany players that instead choose to play at international casinos accept players from Eswatini.
