I did some research into the background of the slot and discovered that this is the 2nd chapter of the game. This version was released in 2008, a couple of years after the first. Novomatic did pretty well with the initial game as a physical slot in land-based casinos. This chapter was popular at the time but has faded behind the modern more glossier titles from the developer. 

A deluxe design and smooth user experience

I think that this slot is very appealing to look at. I was drawn in by the opulent crushed velvet backdrop and the shiny bling on the reels. Animations are lacklustre, though, and you just get the symbols pulsating whenever you get a win. 

There isn’t a soundtrack either, I experienced the reel spinning noises and a little 80’s music from time to time.

The layout is timeless, and I had no trouble with navigation. One element which I do approve of with these older Novomatic slots is the payline visuals. You get to see the pattern of these before you commit your spin. This could save you the time and hassle of clicking back into the paytable for each bet.

My final thoughts on Just Jewels Deluxe

Whilst I enjoyed testing the game, things felt a little boring after a while. The maximum win of 500x is tempting but the lack of bonus features was noticeable. 

TheScatter pays a nice touch, and thebetting range offers good value if you have a smaller budget. I just feel that there should be more. I did find the diamond theme very appealing though, the reels felt rich and opulent. But unless you like classic games, you might want to just trial this one in demo mode rather than with real money.
