Toxic Haze is an engaging slot with a slightly sinister atmosphere. If you like war or apocalypse storylines, then you’re in for a ride. This slot features an apocalyptic city torn apart by war and covered in aposematic colouration. That means the bright colours on the reels and background give off a sense of danger and toxicity.

Considering this slot’s theme, it’s ideal for creating an immersive experience. I cautiously ventured into the danger zone to discover what happened on these waste-filled reels. My mission was to document the slot’s bonus features and technical aspects. This way, everyone who comes after me can understand what they’re getting themselves into.

Several Screenshots I Took of My Gameplay

When I start my slot review, the first thing I do is document its gameplay using screenshots. If you know anything about military briefs, you’ll know they include photos of the location, targets, and mission objectives. That’s what I did with my review of this slot.

Toxic Haze uses the card symbols J, Q, K, and A as the low-paying symbols. However, the high-paying symbols are all items that correspond with the theme. That’s why you’ll see options like a radiation symbol, gas mask, toxic waste cans, an eye, brain, and grenade on the reels.

Is Toxic Haze a Worthwhile Slot?

I thoroughly enjoyed this slot, but it might not be for everyone. If you like darker themes, then you’ll be right at home. Additionally, the heavy theme creates a fantastic contrast with its brightly coloured reels. Its RTP falls within the industry average, but I would have liked to see a higher maximum bet and win limit.

It offers an explosive bonus feature that keeps your attention on the reels. After all, with shifting wild symbols combining and multiplying, you can’t help but sit up and take notice. Still, before you start playing, it’s a good idea to consider the pros and cons:

How Do You Place Your First Bet on Toxic Haze?

Not everyone is ready to venture into the danger zone without thorough preparation. If you want some advice, I have it as someone who’s played the game. I created a comprehensive guide to betting in my mission statement, which will help you survive this apocalypse.

  • Register with a suitable casino. While thousands of casinos are available, they’re not all compatible with every player. That’s why you should find one that you enjoy using. I look at old and new sites to find one that offers the deposit limits and payout times I prefer.

  • Complete the KYC verification. UK regulations require players to verify their casino account before performing specific activities. These activities can include depositing, claiming a bonus, and withdrawing. I like to make this my first step after signing up, so I don’t have to deal with it later.

  • Deposit to fund your account. Making your first deposit is the next on the list. Select your ideal deposit option, and fund your account with at least the minimum amount. I like looking for an option that’s also available for fast withdrawals, which are usually e-wallets.

  • Search for Toxic Haze’s title. In the casino’s lobby, you can type this slot’s name in the search bar to find it. However, you can also use the provider filter, set to Fazi, to see what other games they offer.

  • Settle on a stake amount. If it’s your first time playing this slot, I recommend you start with a low bet amount. I like to bet the lowest amount I can for the first few spins. This stake helps me understand the slot’s volatility and gameplay without spending too much. You can always increase your stake after you familiarise yourself with the gameplay.

  • Place your bet. Once your bet is set, press the spin button. You can’t miss it, as it’s the toxic green button to the side of your screen. If you’re using a mobile, then it’s at the bottom of the reels.

Playing This Slot: My First Experience

When I first opened this slot, I wasn’t sure about it. If you’re used to beautiful and innovative graphics, then the cartoon-like symbols and graphics might seem a bit basic. However, the more I played, the more the 2D art style grew on me.

It’s a very no-nonsense design that fits with an apocalyptic setting. This slot convinced me of its worth when the free spins were activated. The Shifting Wilds is a fun mechanic that I’ll discuss later. For now, I’ll look more at its theme and graphics first.

The Graphics: Go Home or Go Nuclear

This slot features basic 2D graphics reminiscent of classic slots. The standard high-paying symbols pay out between 0.25x and 10x your wager. Meanwhile, the low-paying symbols pay out between 0.12x and 1.50x times.

The Wild is the acute toxicity skull and crossbones yellow sign, while the scatter is the neon biohazard Bonus symbol. The reels have colourful icons, with a destroyed city in a purple haze as the background. Once the free spins activate, the purple haze becomes a poisonous green, and it’s time to put on your gas mask.

The soundtrack will feel familiar for Call of Duty fans. It’s an eerie tune that repeats slowly, building anticipation that something might appear through the haze. The music picks up as soon as the spins hit, giving the feeling of imminent danger.

A Toxic Storyline…?

The storyline of this slot is dark, depicting a world, or at least a city, annihilated by nuclear bombs. If that doesn’t bother you, you might enjoy the gameplay. The eye and brain symbols might feel slightly out of place unless you consider the consequences of bombs in general.

If that’s the reference, then this slot is ideal for lovers of action, apocalypse, and even zombie movies. However, lucky for us, the nuclear bombs are just on the reels and are more likely to electrify symbols than to explode in our faces.

What Bonus Games Will You Discover in This Slot?

I always thoroughly test what bonus features a slot offers to UK players. If you like a slot with multiple features, this one might fall slightly short. However, that’s not to say some aren’t exploding onto the reels.

In the base game, Wild symbols can appear on any reel, substituting for all symbols except the scatter. It features a paytable reward of up to 12.5x your wager. I found that often, the Wilds appear in stacks on the reels, which makes wins slightly more likely.

Anytime the symbols on the reels result in a win, you can gamble that win. You can do so by clicking on the x2 blue button to the left of the reels. This pop-up will show you a card that switches between red and black. You have to pick which colour you think the card will be.

If you choose the right colour, then your win is doubled. If you choose the incorrect card colour, then your entire win is void. I also found that if you use this feature multiple times, you’ll see the cards of the previous gambles at the top of the screen.

You can only double your wins five times in a row before it automatically ends. However, that’s not even the real bonus feature. The actual bonus is the free spins with Shifting Wilds. If the Bonus symbol lands on reels one, three, and five, it awards seven free spins.

You start with a Wild symbol in each corner of the reel’s screen during these spins. As you spin during the bonus feature, the Wilds travel to the centre of the reels and combine to form a 4x multiplier. As you keep pressing the spins button, it’ll travel back to the four corners, now each carrying a 4x multiplier.

The same sequence happens but combines into an 16x multiplier this time. The free spins end after one spin with the 16x multiplier, and players can collect their winnings.

There are also progressive jackpots (Gold, Diamond and Platinum) that can drop randomly.

A Few Technical Considerations on the Toxic Haze Slot

This slot has an average RTP of 96.82%. If you know the industry average (96%), then you know this RTP falls right within that niche. While playing the game, I landed a few high wins and semi-frequent small wins. This win rate corresponds with the slot’s medium volatility, which offers a more balanced gameplay.

The 40 paylines are fixed, and the betting range falls between £0.40 and £40 (for real money play - you’ll find different limits in the demo).

Even so, I would like a higher bet limit than £40 for high rollers. While the demo game’s maximum bet of £20,000 might be unrealistic, I wouldn’t mind seeing a max bet of £60 or £100.

The maximum win limit is 2,674x your wager, which isn’t extremely high but still decent. You can toggle the sound in the settings by turning off all sounds. It also allows you to turn off the music or the game’s sound effects.

Why Does Toxic Haze Stand Out in My Opinion?

Toxic Haze is a slot that might have an unusual theme but this makes for a good storyline. If you’re one of the people drawn to post-apocalyptic tales, then this game is the ultimate mission. It has an average RTP and reasonable max win, with its medium volatility ideal for all player types.

However, I would like a higher bet limit for the high rollers and maybe a few more bonus features. The slot’s graphics might feel basic, but this game is perfectly accessible on desktop and mobile casinos in the UK.
