Los Muertos II is a sequel slot to the original Los Muertos title. While much remains the same, such as the background and most symbols, if you’ve played the original you’ll find there are some drastic differences. Instead of a five-reel, four-row slot, you have a 3x3 grid slot, for starters.
While this slot might not be considered one of the top slots you’ll find online, it’s definitely not one to overlook. The slot is a nominee for the CasinoBeats Game Developer Awards category of Game Music/Soundtrack and for good reason. It has immersive graphics and a few special features. I ventured into the misty cemetery to see what features, symbols, and payouts this slot offers.
Check Out Screenshots of Los Muertos II My Gameplay
It’s all well and good to hear about the online casino slot’s graphics, gameplay, and features. If you’re like me, however, seeing them is so much better.Â
That’s why I walked under the full moon between tombstones and the dead to document the spooky details of this Day of the Dead slot. Browse through my screenshots to see the high-paying symbols, overall layout, and a gamble feature.
Should You Try Out the Los Muertos II Slot?
I feel this slot is worth trying simply because of its distinctive design. If there’s something that sets it apart from other games, it’s the contrasting graphics and sound and two special features. It might not have a high maximum win, but the paytable rewards aren’t shabby at all.Â
My Guide to Placing Your First Bet on Los Muertos II
When you first start playing this slot, there are a few things you should do. If you’re uncertain how to start, then follow my expert guide below.
Sign up at your preferred casino. I would recommend reading my list of the best casinos in the UK to find one that fits your preference.
Complete the required verification. While the registration software also verifies your identity, you often need to complete more detailed KYC verification. This requirement is due to the UK iGaming regulations, so I would recommend doing it first to avoid any other delays.
Make your first casino deposit. Most casinos list a shortcut to the deposit tab in the top right corner of the casino’s website. I prefer starting with a low deposit, so I deposit between €5 and €15, depending on the casino minimum limit and bonus terms.
Find the Los Muertos II title. I prefer to simply type the slot name into the search bar, as it’s the fastest way to find a game. However, you can also filter the gaming library to show only Wazdan slots.
Decide on a reasonable bet amount. I recommend starting with a €0.20 bet and only raising it after you feel comfortable with the gameplay.
Press the slot’s Spin button. Start spinning the reels to experience the horror-filled features of this game. However, decide on a limit for how long you’ll play or how many spins your bankroll can afford. I usually start with 10 to 15 spins.
My First Thoughts While Spinning Los Muertos II’s Reels
Unlike the original title, this game seems to offer a more classic take on slot gameplay. If you like multiple bonus features, then the first title in this slot series might be more suited to you. However, if you enjoy the basics of a classic slot, of spinning the reels without all the fuss of complicated features, then this game is for you.
I absolutely loved the 3D graphics and cemetery setting, as it added a realistic element to the horror-themed slot. However, the slot does have an element of juxtaposition in its design. The graphics and the sound design took me by surprise, though I loved them.
Discover Spooktacular Reels and Cheery Sounds
Before you open this slot, you might think it’s like every other Day of the Dead-themed game. If that’s what you’re expecting, then you’ll be in for a surprise. The reels and graphics take a dark turn, with the reels set in a crypt standing in the middle of a creepy cemetery at night.Â
Mist covers the ground, a dead tree stands in a corner, and a man and woman stand on opposite sides of the reels. The 3D design of the graphics only makes it more immersive. If it wasn’t for the traditional La Catrina face paint and outfits, you might think this was solely a ghostly slot.Â
However, there’s another feature that gives away the theme. In contrast to the dark and hair-raising graphics, the sound is cheerful. It’s traditional DÃa de los Muertos instrumentals, giving the gameplay an atmosphere of levity. Due to this, I really enjoyed playing it at new casinos.
It’s all juxtaposed by the slight sound effects in the background of a night scene and unearthly noises. Occasionally, a skeleton covered in a veil hovers in the left corner. The woman occasionally chuckles and gives you a thumbs up with wins, while the man sometimes cheers as he jumps and strums his guitar.
A New Play on a Well-Known Slot Theme
This slot follows the theme of Day of the Dead but with a spooktacular twist. If you spin the reels, then you won’t find bright colours and decorations. Instead of the festivities and fun traditions, it focuses on the dead.Â
In fact, Los Muertos means The Dead in Spanish, so I’m not surprised by the graphics. DÃa de los Muertos has a long history in Mexican culture. It is a day on which families welcome and honour the souls of their deceased family members.Â
While this is usually a celebration, this slot feels more like something you would find in a Tim Burton movie like Corpse Bride. Still, I liked the theme, as it felt like a mixture between DÃa de los Muertos and Halloween, combining the festivities with horror elements.Â
Explore Los Muertos II’s Bonus Features With Me
A slot’s bonus features are often the most attractive feature of the gameplay. If bonus features appeal to you, you likely love to experience free spins, Hold the Jackpot features, or other bonus elements. I started by checking out the paytable and information section to see what this slot offers.
However, Los Muertos II doesn’t really offer traditional bonus games like free spins or a progressive jackpot. All that’s available are the Special Symbol and the gamble features. Still, let’s take a look at these features to see what to expect.
The Special Symbol is the highest-paying symbol in the game. It’s not a stand-alone symbol but rather appears on the corner of low-paying symbols. It’s a portrait of the man and woman, and it’ll pay 40x your bet if it appears on three symbols that land on a winning payline.
Meanwhile, any win you land has a gambling feature available. When a win landed on the reels for me, I saw a small 2x coin icon in the right corner of the bar below the reels. By pressing on this button, it opened the gambling feature.Â
You’ll see two picture frames, one in red with the woman’s face and one in black with the man’s face. A facedown card is between them, and you have to guess which colour the card is. If you guess right, your win is doubled.Â
However, if you guess wrong, you lose your winnings and the feature ends. It’s possible to double the winnings up to seven times or up to €400,000 before it automatically ends. You can also, at any time, decide to take your winnings without gambling on them again.Â
What is Los Muertos II’s RTP?
Los Muertos II has an RTP of 96.41%, which I’m fine with, as it’s within the expected industry average. If you read the paytable and Help section, then you can see this and other technical aspects.
Its volatility can range from low to high, depending on what option you choose while playing. The button will be beside the spin button, with three chillies representing the three volatility levels. This mechanic is the ideal feature for all players, as it allows you to play with a volatility you’re comfortable with.
This game’s free-play demo has betting limits starting at €0.20, which will be the same as those in the real-money version at most casinos. However, the demo features an unrealistic €10,000 max bet, which will definitely not be the case for real-money play.
The maximum win is low at 40x your wager. However, this is the maximum possible win in the slot and not the cutoff point. So players can land 40x wins multiple times in one game session. This title also only features five paylines.Â
You can see the paylines on the reels, as the crypt’s walls covered in vines and roses will show numbers on each side. Wins pay out from left to right. The high-paying symbols all give 16x your bet wins, while the low-paying symbols have 8x payouts.
My Opinion on Why Los Muertos II Stands Out
I thoroughly enjoyed this slot despite its lack of bonus features. If you consider that its paytable rewards are set at two high payout multipliers, it balances out. While I would have liked to see some free spins, it makes sense when you consider that this title is a simplified version of the original game.Â
The design also intrigued me, as I really enjoyed the juxtaposed graphics and sound, which not many other slots do. I’d recommend UK players who want to experience a different Day of the Dead slot give this one a try.
