While I didn’t get to see the city, I did find that this game’s graphics come with a new twist. I also found some interesting food for thought on how the change in graphics can tie in with the original legend of El Dorado, which I discuss further below.

A Dicey Element to Familiar Graphics?

The reels boast various totem animals as the symbols. If you examine the paytable, you’ll see the highest-paying symbol, which is a jaguar. This symbol awards up to 100x your wager. The snake gives up to 50x your bet, while the toucan and monkey award up to 20x your wager. 

Meanwhile, the low-paying symbols award between 1x and 15x your wager, which is impressive for base game payouts. However, there’s another dicey element: literal dice on the bottom right corner of each symbol.

The dice value will correspond with the symbol value. So the jaguar, as the highest-paying symbol, has a dice with two lines, followed by the snake featuring a dice with one line. The toucan has six dots, with each symbol after it showing dice with one less dot. 

Finally, as the lowest-paying symbol, the pig symbol features a dice with one dot. The dice element makes it easy for players to see what type of payouts they can expect when symbols are part of wins. They can easily identify the symbol’s value without memorising the paytable.

However, the dice have no other use besides being a visual element. There’s no connected bonus feature or even a unique animation sequence. This feels like the provider missed an opportunity to add something to the game that could set it apart from the original besides a dice graphic.

Still, the tribal instrumentals in the background and the range of jungle sounds help immerse you into this slot’s gameplay. As such, I would say that though it might not rank among the best online slots, it still features some visually stunning reels that UK players can enjoy.

The legendary city of gold is said to have originated with the Muisca people in the 16th and 17th centuries. If you’re a history and legends nerd like me, then you probably know this about El Dorado. While totems aren’t directly correlated with the myth, it’s not a far leap to make, seeing as many South American tribes used totem poles.

Let’s Discuss This Slot’s Bonus Games

The paytable does more than just list the symbol rewards. If you like to understand the bonus features before you play, then you’ll find the paytable explains them in detail. However, this game only has two bonus features, which are fairly simple to understand.

The first is the Expanding Wild. This red and gold totem pole appears only on reels two, three, and four. The wild doesn’t have a separate paytable reward, as it takes on the value of the symbol it substitutes for.

The other feature is the respin mechanic. Every time the wild lands on the reels and expands, it’ll grant a single respin. During that respin, the wild remains sticky on the reels. If another wild lands on one of the remaining two middle reels, then it grants another respin. In that case, both wilds will remain sticky.

You can have up to three respins in a row if you land a wild during each respin. What makes this mechanic so special is the Win Both Ways feature. It means you can win from left to right and right to left.
