Popiplay Nominated for Slot Developer of the Year at SBC Awards in Lisbon

The shortlist for the SBC Awards 2024 has been announced, and some of my favourite software providers are on there. If you’ve been following Popiplay’s recent rise to fame, you’ll be thrilled to see its name on the list. The game studio is nominated in the slot developer category, but what are its chances of winning?

I’m going to take a look at the awards, the other contenders, and what makes Popiplay stand out. It’s not the only award that this developer could win this year; it’s nominated in two categories at the European iGaming Excellence Awards 2024. Clearly, it’s doing something right. SBC Awards 2024

This year, the SBC Awards will take place in Lisbon. If you’re not familiar with the event, it's one of the biggest industry nights of the year, now reaching its 11th edition. The awards mark the end of the SBC Summit and will bring together the best and brightest in the industry at the MEO Arena on 26th September.

Developers, platforms, operators, payment providers, and affiliates will gather to find out who takes home the award in each of the 39 categories. The judges have already created the shortlists after a record-breaking number of applications. Popiplay has made the cut, and I think the software provider is a strong contender.

Popiplay is shortlisted in the Small category alongside some of the best software providers in the business. They include Peter and Sons, Triple Edge Studios, Gameburger Studio, and ELA Game.

What Makes Popiplay a Potential Award Winner?

Popiplay has done a lot in a short amount of time, which proves the know-how and passion of the team. If you haven’t played a game from this studio, what are you waiting for? Detective Donut is a sweet treat that combines with a crime caper to deliver a quirky and fun slot. The 6x6 grid contains 50 paylines, two wilds and plenty of special symbols. There’s the money bag multiplier, the coin, and the cash register, which helps you collect that dough. 

One of my favourite features is the hotspots on the reels, as they trigger even more action. Plus, look out for the Big Donut Fall that randomly adds an extra spin to help you get your bonus.

Dogmasons MegaWOOF

Popiplay took its original dog-themed game and made it even better in Dogmasons MegaWOOF. If you like free spins, jackpots, wilds, and multipliers, this game will be a hit with you. However, if you prefer low volatility slots, be warned, as this one has very high volatility. 

I got an instant positive first impression when playing, as the dog respin triggered straight away. Ball symbols with values landed on the reels, and anytime a new one locked in place, my respins reset. Plus, the scratch feature added new spaces on the reels for symbols to appear! 

Traders Fortune

I’m taking you to Asia now with the exquisitely depicted Trader’s Fortune. From the swaying lanterns to the exotic fruits, the animations bring this game to life. Look out for symbols of luck, including the fortune cookie and the gold coins.
