A Closer Look at the Bonus Games

Most of the bonuses come from the block symbols, which sit in a separate set of reels at the top. With that in mind, I’ll take a closer look so that if you’re wondering how it all works everything becomes clearer.

The upper reel contains block symbols that are removed and activated when a win occurs directly below them. Some blocks are blank, but others contain directional arrows that remove corresponding nearby blocks, too. While they’re fairly rare occurrences, there are some special bonuses for when all the paying symbols and all the blocks are destroyed. If all the symbols in the lower reel disappear in one cascade, then the next one will have symbols of the same kind. It doesn’t keep repeating, though.

As for destroying all the blocks in one cascade, it gets you an upgrade, with only gem, multiplier, and bonus symbols appearing for the rest of the round. You need to activate three bonus symbols to launch the free spins. 

Each block has a number, so that’s how many you’ll start the round with, as shown by the statute on the left.

You head to a golden cavern for the free spins. The multiplier from the triggering spin remains and can go up but doesn’t reset. Activating more bonus blocks means more free spins. 

The multiplier in this round led to some of my biggest wins. Your free spins could randomly become Super, where only multiplier, bonus, and gem blocks appear on the upper reel.

Atlantis Crush from the Technical Side

While I was checking the paytable, I also took a look at the technical specifications of the game. It’s a high-volatility slot, which isn’t usually my preferred choice, as I like medium volatility. However, the cascade feature changes the pace of the gameplay to keep the action running a bit longer.

The slot’s RTP is 96.09%. It’s a number that doesn’t blow me away, but at the same time, it doesn’t negatively affect my impression of Atlantis Crush. 

From a technical point of view, this slot hasn’t done enough to become something I play very regularly. However, since there isn’t anything to dislike, I’m sure I’ll come back to it from time to time.
