Things to Consider
High volatility play doesn’t suit everyone
Not all wins break blocks in the upper reel
Mythology-themed slots are some of my favourite games, as they have an element of magic, history, and drama. Going on a journey to a fabled underwater city in a slot is my idea of fun! I expected impressive statutes and a few interesting surprises, and that’s exactly what I got in Atlantis Crush.
The slot’s dual-reel system is the first thing to draw your attention. While I like that slot play is straightforward, I also love to see innovative game mechanics. In this case, it has a strong tie to the gameplay and the narrative, which is the ideal recipe for an immersive slot.Â
The maximum win, scatter pays format, and cascading symbols added to my positive first impression. Overall, I found a lot to like about this vibrant slot, although the high volatility requires patience, which is not my strong suit.Â
Some Screenshots from My Time Playing
I could tell you about the bright colours and epic rock face in the slot, but it’s much easier to show you. I’ve captured some images from my gameplay that give you an idea of the symbols, dual-reel setup, and the beautifully depicted backdrop, if you're the kind of player who likes to see what’s in store.
Relax Gaming has brought Atlantis to life with a carved stone grid where just about every element has a purpose in the game. I’m impressed by the attention to detail. You’ll see what I mean in these screenshots of the reels, paying symbols and block symbols and features.
Is Atlantis Crush Worth Your Attention?
Yes, anyone looking for a scatter pays slot, a mythology theme, or an innovative reel setup will find something to like here. If you’re wondering about volatility, this is a high volatility slot, so I had to wait a bit for something good to happen. It means that planning your bankroll accordingly is key.
The highlight for me is that when a cascade starts, it usually triggers more action, so you get a big burst of excitement all at once. It means that multipliers can start to build, and the different features, such as wilds and exploding blocks, can come into play and make it even more interesting.
You only need four or more symbols for a win, but since the grid is quite small, that’s a bit more challenging than it sounds. Plus, if your win is towards the bottom of the grid, you don’t break blocks in the upper reel.Â
However, I like that the free spins round takes you underground, with golden elements on the reels, a multiplier that doesn’t reset, and ways to win more free spins.
Placing Your First Wager on Atlantis Crush: My Guide
Two sets of reels mean double the fun, but it isn’t twice as difficult to play, thankfully. If you’re not sure how to get started, let me talk you through how I launched the game and placed my first bet.
-
The slot is still growing in popularity, so I had to find out which casinos featured it and then used my review criteria to find the top sites. It came down to customer support, payments, and payout speeds, but I finally picked a favourite.
-
I signed up for an account by adding my details. I took the opportunity to verify my identity by submitting some documents. I prefer to get the paperwork sorted and then enjoy the games.
-
My chosen casino had a free spins welcome offer, although they weren’t allocated to Atlantis Crush. However, once I deposited and used them, I saw in the terms that I could play this slot with my winnings to meet the wagering requirement.
-
I quickly found the slot in the game library and launched it. My first stop was the paytable, and then I read the rules to get to grips with the dual-reel concept and other features.
-
Before hitting the ‘Spin’ button, I clicked the coins icon to adjust my bet amount. I let the music play for a bit, but later, I went to the settings menu and turned it off but left the sound effects playing.
What Happened When I Launched and Played This Slot
The bright colours, carved statues, and atmospheric soundtrack made a positive first impression. If you’re like me and value slots that put extra effort into the sounds used, you'll like Atlantis Crush. I particularly liked the tropical sound effects and the noise I heard every time the heavy blocks landed on the reels. I muted the music in the end to appreciate these sounds a bit more.Â
Clever design for an immersive experience
While some elements are just part of the backdrop, I love that most of the screen is filled with details that are used in the game one way or another. One statue keeps track of your multiplier, while the other counts the bonus blocks, showing when you’ll trigger free spins and how many you’ll get.Â
These small details are what make the slot more intuitive and immersive. Everything has a place, and the theme feels natural and is part of the fun. The red, green, and blue tones match the fire, plant, and water elemental side of the game.
A storyline that’s on trend
Slots with a mythology theme have proved to be popular recently, including Gates of Olympus and its 1000 reboot. This adventure to a mythical city strikes the right note, too, as it vividly brings the legendary island to life.
While the graphics do the heavy lifting, the way the symbols and features tie in is impressive. There’s the challenge to match symbols of the same element, the building blocks of the city that release bonuses, and the gemstones and golden free spins, which show that Atlantis has hidden treasure.
A Closer Look at the Bonus Games
Most of the bonuses come from the block symbols, which sit in a separate set of reels at the top. With that in mind, I’ll take a closer look so that if you’re wondering how it all works everything becomes clearer.
The upper reel contains block symbols that are removed and activated when a win occurs directly below them. Some blocks are blank, but others contain directional arrows that remove corresponding nearby blocks, too. Before you play, I recommend checking the game information for the full description of these symbols and the bonus games.
The multiplier block can go up to 500x. The statue to the right keeps track of them, and the amount is applied to your cascade win. When activated, the fire, water, and plant gem blocks destroy symbols matching that element and cause symbols of the same kind to drop in the next cascade.Â
While they’re fairly rare occurrences, there are some special bonuses for when all the paying symbols and all the blocks are destroyed. If all the symbols in the lower reel disappear in one cascade, then the next one will have symbols of the same kind. It doesn’t keep repeating, though.
As for destroying all the blocks in one cascade, it gets you an upgrade, with only gem, multiplier, and bonus symbols appearing for the rest of the round. You need to activate three bonus symbols to launch the free spins.Â
Each block has a number, so that’s how many you’ll start the round with, as shown by the statute on the left.
You head to a golden cavern for the free spins. The multiplier from the triggering spin remains and can go up but doesn’t reset. Activating more bonus blocks means more free spins.Â
The multiplier in this round led to some of my biggest wins. Your free spins could randomly become Super, where only multiplier, bonus, and gem blocks appear on the upper reel.
Atlantis Crush from the Technical Side
While I was checking the paytable, I also took a look at the technical specifications of the game. It’s a high-volatility slot, which isn’t usually my preferred choice, as I like medium volatility. However, the cascade feature changes the pace of the gameplay to keep the action running a bit longer.
The slot’s RTP is 96.09%. It’s a number that doesn’t blow me away, but at the same time, it doesn’t negatively affect my impression of Atlantis Crush.Â
From a technical point of view, this slot hasn’t done enough to become something I play very regularly. However, since there isn’t anything to dislike, I’m sure I’ll come back to it from time to time.Â
Why Did Atlantis Crush Catch My Attention?
Atlantis Crush took me by surprise. On paper, it’s a high volatility game with an average RTP, which might suit you if you’re a regular slot player, but it isn’t enough to grab me. However, the way the narrative and features connect and the innovative upper reel activations did catch my eye.
The scatter pays and cascades are what kept me playing, along with the multipliers and free spins round. The well-executed mythology theme is what makes this slot one to remember, so I’m sure I’ll explore Atlantis again.
I recommend careful bankroll management and some patience. I found it a bit frustrating waiting for four scattered symbols to appear on the grid of 15. Plus, the wins that don’t destroy blocks feel a little underwhelming. However, once the cascades start and some special symbols come into play, all that is forgotten.
Atlantis Crush FAQ
The top win you can get is 10,000x your wager. There’s no specific action to correspond to that max win, but it can come from cascades and multipliers.Â
This slot comes from Relax Gaming, a developer known for its innovative features and intricate storytelling. The steampunk Money Train series has shown off what this studio can do, and each release has become a firm fan favourite.Â
Just as I can’t really tell you how to get to Atlantis, I also can’t provide tips for winning slots, as these games are random. All you’re in control of is the spin button, which is part of the fun.Â
However, you can also look at your bet amount, bankroll, and how long you play to make the most of a session while walking away satisfied.
You won’t find a standalone app for this slot, but that doesn’t mean you can’t play it on your phone. Once you find a casino to play the game, check the App Store or Play Store for its app, which you can download to access Atlantis Crush.
