We've got some recommendations on what we consider to be the best gambling sites and casino apps for NJ players. We'll also look at their respective deposit bonuses, online games, website designs, customer support, etc.
So, if you're based in the state that gave us Atlantic City, you can find the best NJ casinos for 2024.
New Jersey Online Gambling
Nevada has Las Vegas, and New Jersey has Atlantic City. Are they in the same league? Well, that will depend on who you ask. We can say that New Jersey pips Nevada to the post on one major point - they’ve made online casinos legal.
As a matter of fact, there’s very little that isn’t legal in New Jersey, as the state allows horse racing, off-track betting, online sports betting, and more. The current situation is the product of a determination to be THE state for gambling and a couple of lengthy lawsuits. This review takes you on a journey through all aspects of gambling in NJ and what we can expect in the near future.
New Jersey is one of the most open states regarding online gambling. In fact, there’s virtually no limit to what keen gamblers can engage with - and that includes real money gambling online. If you have a smart device and a solid internet connection, you’ll be able to:
Play the lottery online
Bet on sports online
Play at online casino sites
Wager on horses online
Bet on Daily Fantasy Sports online
All of this is in addition to the vast selection of land-based options. Atlantic City is a haven for those looking to spend a few hours on flashy casino floors, greeting croupiers and trying their luck on slot machines.
About 27 million people visit the resort city of Atlantic City every month. The sheer numbers come down to the fact that all land-based casinos in New Jersey are restricted to Atlantic City, and it’s illegal to operate these establishments anywhere else in the state. On the other hand, all online casinos and online sportsbooks can be accessed all over the state, both on-site or through casino apps.

Criteria for Reviewing the New Jersey Online Casinos
To ensure that we give all of the necessary and proper information in our casino review sections, we follow a guide and seek out certain criteria. We will never recommend a site that fails in these areas because we want you to have the best experience when playing online.
By adhering to the rules of our criteria, we present the best casino choices to you. But what are these criteria? Take a look at what features we want to see when deciding on a casino site to recommend to you below, and this way, you'll know what to expect from the sites mentioned earlier.
Bonus Promotions
Most people enjoy receiving bonus money when signed up for an online casino site. And if this is indeed something that you are after, you can guarantee that our recommendations come with such. Any gambler signing up to one of the New mentioned above Jersey platforms can look forward to a deposit match, cashback reward, or even free spins after deposit. Sometimes, you may be required to enter a bonus code or promo code to receive the reward, but the reward can very nicely enhance your gaming experience.
When considering these, we have found casinos that provide varying bonus amounts, from small perks like $10 or $25 through to larger rewards like $1,000 and $2,000 in bonus funds. Just enter the relevant bonus codes if and when they are needed to ensure you receive the match bonuses or whatever you're claiming.
Valid NJDGE License
It is important to sign up for an online casino operation that adheres to all law enforcement. This means that it should have a valid license from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE).
There are specific rules and regulations that an online casino needs to follow to operate legitimately. It also ensures that any casino revenue is taxed appropriately under state law. All of the casinos on our list are owned by an operator that possesses an official license, so you can always expect it to provide legal services to anyone and everyone in the state. Furthermore, the platforms should have an effective privacy policy to protect your data and guidelines for anyone experiencing a gambling problem.
Things We Like

Online Casino Games in New Jersey
New Jersey is one of the few very lucky states that allow residents to gamble at home, on the go, or wherever they can find a secure internet connection. Multiple online casinos operate legally in the state, all of which must obtain a license from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE).
While you need to be over the age of 21 to gamble at a land-based casino, when physically present in New Jersey, you can log in and play at an online casino once you reach the age of 18. These sites offer every single casino game available, from table games like blackjack and roulette to slots, jackpots, and live dealer games.
And the best part is that several top-drawer sites are competing to reel players in, which means a huge choice of competitive bonuses and promotions on all the latest casino game releases from the world’s best game providers.
New Jersey Online Slots
Thanks to New Jersey’s accepting nature, online slots and jackpot slots are widely available to anyone who logs in to a licensed online casino. You’ll need to be physically present in New Jersey, as the license doesn’t extend beyond the state.
Thanks to sites like BetMGM, Golden Nugget, Caesars, and Unibet, you’ll have access to games from NetEnt, Play’n GO, Red Tiger Gaming, and Pragmatic Play. That means you can spin the reels on lontime classics like Starbucks or try your luck on modern slots with exciting features like Thunder Cash Voodoo Magic. Whatever you choose, you’re always in with the chance for some life-changing wins.
New Jersey Online Poker
New Jersey continued its trend of being the online gambling king state by signing the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA) in 2017. This allowed the state to offer real money poker to residents and visitors. New Jersey’s in good company with Nevada, Michigan, and Delaware, as the only states to allow players to gamble on both live and video poker.
Play any poker game like Texas Hold’Em, Omaha, Three Card Poker, and more online. BetMGM and PokerStars are the top poker operators in the state, offering players a huge range of sit and go games and tournaments at all bet limits - from recreational to pro level. So pull up a virtual seat and get in the game.
New Jersey Lottery
After a lot of back and forth, New Jersey reinstated the state lottery in 1970 for good. In 1999, the New Jersey Lottery joined the Multi-State Lottery Association, adding even bigger lottery draws like Mega Millions and Powerball.
Considering New Jersey’s reputation as an online gambling haven, it should be no surprise that lottery lovers can also buy their tickets online. The only restriction is the requirement to be physically present in New Jersey during the time of purchase. The New Jersey Lottery even has a VIP Club where players can receive live updates on winning numbers, free coupons and more.
New Jersey Online Roulette
New Jersey is one of the very few states in the US that doesn’t ask online gamblers to visit social casinos for online roulette. Instead, as long as you find yourself physically present in New Jersey, you can log in to a selection of online casinos that offer multiple roulette games.
Choose from the usual Classic Roulette to wackier options like Space Invaders Roulette. If you want to make your experience even more realistic, then you’ll also be able to access Live Dealer Roulette games like First Person Lightning Roulette, American Roulette, and a whole lot more.
Online Blackjack in New Jersey
NHL Blackjack, New York Jets Blackjack, Blazing Blackjack, and Blackjack Pro are amongst the many blackjack variations on the menu if you’re on the hunt for a fantastic online blackjack experience in New Jersey. As with online roulette, if you want to take things to the next level, going beyond RNG table games, then Live Dealer Blackjack games are all on the table too.
These usually come from the leading live dealer game provider, Evolution Gaming, with games like Lightning Blackjack, Infinite Blackjack and Classic Blackjack. The options are top of the range, thanks to several legal online casinos in New Jersey.
Horse Betting in New Jersey
As long as you’re over the age of 18, you can wager on the ponies any time and any day of the week in New Jersey. Your access won’t be impeded in the slightest, as New Jersey made live betting at race tracks, off-track betting (OTB), and online horse betting legal.
The only possible setback is that only one mobile horse betting site is legal in the State of New Jersey - and that would be 4NJBets. This is regulated by the New Jersey Racing Commission, meaning players are protected while they place their bets. New Jersey has three race tracks and a handful of OTB bureaus. TVG powers 4NJBets, so you can expect the best odds on all the hot races.
New Jersey Live Dealers
We’ve already mentioned that New Jersey’s online casino status means instant access to exciting live dealer games. These online casino-exclusive games allow players to get the best of both worlds - playing online and getting the casino floor experience.
Providers like Evolution Gaming offer an ever-increasing game selection covering all the classic table games (like roulette, blackjack, baccarat, and craps), plus exciting and innovative games that allow you to step into game shows at the click of a button (Deal or No Deal Live and Monopoly Live are great options). All you need is a stable internet connection and a comfy seat, and get ready to meet your dealer.
Sports Gambling in New Jersey
New Jersey leads the way in most forms of gambling, and sports betting is no exception. Legislation making sports gambling legal was signed in January 2012 after a successful referendum was held the previous year. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement manages all matters related to sports betting. The law allows all state land-based casinos and race tracks to offer sportsbooks for both professional and college sports.
The main restriction is that bettors in New Jersey can’t place bets on college events played in New Jersey itself or on any out-of-state games that involve New Jersey teams.
In 2013, New Jersey lost its right to allow sports betting based on a lawsuit filed by the NCAA, NBA, NFL, and MLB. Years of litigation ensued, with New Jersey finally winning back the right to offer sports betting once again after the Supreme Court ruled against the prohibitions put in place by PASPA.
Sports You Can Bet Under NJ Sports Gambling Laws
The world is your oyster when it comes to gambling on sports markets in NJ. With such intense competition from the world’s biggest sportsbooks, there really hasn’t been a stone left unturned. The only restrictions come with in-state college teams and college games that take place inside NJ.
It’s not possible to place wagers in either of those instances. These measures have been put in place to prevent corruption or undue advantages. Other than that, you can place wagers of all kinds, including pre-game and live bets while the game is running. This goes for all the different sports on offer, which range from the most popular sports in the US, to European favorites, and also more niche options. As a rule of thumb, you’ll always be able to bet on the following sports markets (as well as the seasonal sporting events that come with each):
-
Basketball (NBA + college)
-
Baseball (MLB)
-
Hockey (NHL), baseball (MLB)
-
Soccer (EPL, UCL, and major tournaments)

Daily Fantasy Sports Betting in New Jersey
The New Jersey fantasy Sports Act (NFSA) has been in place and regulating Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) in the state since 2017. That means any operators who want to offer fantasy sports to online players in New Jersey will need to obtain a permit. In 2018, further regulations where added to the DFS requirements, all designed to protect consumers and ensure fair play. For example, all players must be over the age of 18, player funds must be treated with additional layers of security, and several restrictions on informationsharing with regard to athletes and team activities. All the top DFS sites like DraftKings, FanDuel and Monkey Knife Fight are legal in New Jersey.
Online Sportsbooks Launched in New Jersey
Gamblers in NJ like to have a pint or two at sporting events and play casino games, so it is ideal for both to be featured on one site. Sometimes, you'll find that a poker site is also involved in their makeup. These sports betting sections should feature competitive odds on various sports, including the biggest leagues in the USA - the MLB, NBA, NHL and NFL. As our reviews show, there are several sites that you can join to cater to you as a sports bettor.
Matches can be wagered on in standard formats and live betting scenarios. Again, you may be able to receive a deposit match bonus for using the sportsbook when you join and deposit. Therefore, both casino gamers and sports bettors are all catered to in one area..
The number of live online bookies in New Jersey is probably somewhere in the region of 30 right now. That may seem like a lot, but keep in mind that not all sportsbooks are created equal. Some of these are large, reputable operations backed by big investments, while others are smaller and newer. Which to play on is entirely your decision of course, and it depends on what you value. Smaller sports betting sites will probably offer bigger bonuses to lure more players in (but be sure to read all the fine print), while larger sites usually have robust and structured loyalty programs. Here are our favorite online sportsbooks right now:
-
Caesars Sportsbook
-
PointsBet Sportsbook
-
BetMGM Sportsbook
-
FanDuel Sportsbook
-
DraftKings Sportsbook

Deposit and Withdraw Methods in New Jersey Gambling Sites
Deposit and withdrawal methods are always a top consideration when you’re ready to gamble online. Whether it’s an online casino, an online sportsbook, or the lottery, you need to make sure you choose the payment option that works best for you. You won't be short of options thanks to New Jersey’s wide selection of top-of-the-range online gambling sites.
From traditional bank transfers to digital eWallets, you can take your pick. Although the methods on offer will always vary from site to site, these are the most common deposit and withdrawal methods in NJ:
-
Play+ Prepaid Card - this isn’t a free option but will allow you to use your account funds with a card for ATM, retail shopping, and online.
-
PayPal - this is the most popular eWallet option, but you’ll need to register an account and fund it with a credit or debit card first.
-
Debit/Credit Cards - Visa and MasterCard are the most commonly accepted cards, but sometimes Discover and American Express are okay too.
-
Online Bank Transfer - this method is a solid option, but keep in mind that there might be some small fees and it will usually take a couple of business days to get your withdrawal.
-
eCheck - VIP Preferred is a popular way to fund your account via electronic checks.
-
Cash - at the Casino Cage or at participating retailers with PayNearMe (usually CVS or 7-Eleven) to fund your online account by scanning a barcode.
One thing to keep in mind is that while most payment methods offer deposits and withdrawals, a couple are only made for deposits. That means you’ll need a second option to withdraw your cash, so be sure to decide carefully before making a deposit.
Please look at the banking options we like to see at New Jersey casino sites.
Solid Casino Providers
The mark of a great online casino is also in the software utilised to provide games to players. The gambling industry is overwhelmed with developers creating online content today, and they all create their own types and style of games. Some focus on slots, while others prefer games with live dealers controlling their flow.
Others manage to develop casino games in all spheres. Whatever the case is, the status of a NJ casino can often be determined through the software that it decides to utilise in its lobby. There should be a collection of solid casino providers for you to pick from, so take a look at the companies that will always offer an excellent experience through their games.
New Jersey Casino Bonuses
Whether you’re going after casinos or sportsbooks, fantastic casino bonuses are always on offer if you gamble online. The big gambling brands, like WynnBet Casino, Virgin, BetMGM, Bally, Unibet, and Caesars, offer both sports betting and casino gambling. On the other hand, sites like DraftKings and FanDuel combine DFS and sportsbooks.
Your NJ casino bonus gifts begin from the very first day you sign up when you’ll receive a fat welcome bonus offer (that usually carries a total value of up to $1,500) that can be made up of risk-free bets, a deposit bonus, bonus cash or free spins - depending on the gambling vertical you choose. The competition between gambling sites is hot, increasing the bonuses on offer. For example, Caesars Sportsbook offers all new bettors up to $1,250 in risk-free bets, 1,000 Tier Credits, and 1,000 Reward Credits. BetMGM Sports keeps it clean with a straight up risk-free bet up to $1,000. The Gold Nugget online casino offers players an enormous deposit match of up to $1,000 on sign-up, plus $10 for free.
Remember to read the terms and conditions of each offer, and find out about loyalty programs, as these could drastically affect your decision-making process!
No Deposit Bonus NJ
A no deposit bonus is a small reward you provide after signing up for an account at a casino. You don't need to deposit before receiving such a promotion; instead, you register for an account and add it to your balance. You may need a casino promo code for it, and usually, it won't go any higher than around $20.
NJ Casino Free Spins
Slot machines operate as games with reels for you to spin, and free spins allow you to do this without using your deposited funds. Instead, you can be provided with a batch of these as part of a reward for depositing or even as the no deposit reward at a site, and a specific game will be highlighted for you to use them on.
Sportsbook Cashback
If you're more of a sports bettor, you may be able to claim a cashback perk instead. Cashback will usually be given on your weekly losses, and these will usually be highlighted as a percentage. So, if a platform offers a 10% cashback perk and you unluckily lose $200, you will be given a cashback reward of $20 at the end of the week.
Casino 1-Hour Free Play
You may, as an alternative, get to visit and join a casino that provides you with one hour's worth of free play in the lobby. You don't need to make a deposit beforehand - the casino provides a set amount of money for you to play within that timeframe. This can be $100, $500, $1,500 or something else, and the amount is completely at the discretion of the gaming site.
Gambling History in New Jersey
Atlantic City, just like its main competitor Las Vegas, has a long history of gambling activity. But New Jersey is more than just Atlantic City, and the gambling influence spread through the entire state, legalized and banned in a series of events that brought us to where we are today. Here are some of New Jersey’s top historical highlights:
-
Horse racing took place at Freehold Raceway and some other tracks starting in the 1830s.
-

Latest Updates for NJ Online Gambling and Casinos
It’s a well-known fact that New Jersey is one of the two most liberal states when it comes to online gambling, the other being Michigan. But that doesn’t mean the state has developed to its full potential. In fact, there’s usually always something new in the pipeline. In the case of New Jersey, Esports are what is stirring the pot as of October 2022.
As Esports gather massive momentum, with more players and fans every day, New Jersey has its eye on the prize. Becoming "THE STATE" for Esports will drive considerable revenue into New Jersey’s already hefty bank balance. Earlier this year, the state approved Vie, an online and mobile betting platform.
A new bill proposed in June 2022 would if successful, expand the definition of “internet gambling” to include “the placing of wagers with a casino licensee on Esports.” It would also make it possible for those with casino licenses to also offer Esports, rather than just those holding a sports license. The proposed bill will be decided upon in December 2022.

Our thoughts on how New Jersey is Developing
New Jersey shows no signs of slowing down regarding land-based and online gambling. Their open attitude to online gambling was a huge help during the global pandemic, allowing revenue streams to keep flowing over lockdown periods.
The law that permits the state to operate in this way is set to expire in November 2023, with lawmakers already considering a new bill to extend online gambling for 10 years. There appears to be no question as to whether or not the new bill will be signed into law, as the NJ governor already said he would happily sign it once it passes through the senate.
With Manhattan looking into building a casino of its own, Atlantic City faces the threat of competition in its backyard, which is even more reason to double down on online gambling. The only sticking point in New Jersey is the fact that land-based gambling is limited to AC, and previous bills to extend beyond it were quickly shot down. However, this doesn’t look set to change any time soon.
