Despite my experience, Starlight Kiss from Games Global was a new one for me. I had never played it before creating this review of the game. Thus, my first impression was one of genuine surprise when I loaded it up. I was expecting to see a slot with lower-resolution graphics and clunky gameplay, but that’s not what I got at all.

However, the design of this online casino slot is still great today, so I can only imagine just how impressive it was when it was first launched in 2013. That doesn’t only relate to the symbols upon the reels, either. The background of Starlight Kiss is expressive in its own right, and that helps to tell the story of what the game is all about. It’s definitely highlighting a romantic meeting between two lovers, with ornate stone benches, a decorative fountain and plenty of foliage in view.

A piano key plays out every time you press the spin button, and this leads to a relaxing piece of music playing as the reels spin. Should you form a win on the reels, a very positive jingle can be heard. Who knows? Maybe love has been found in the game at this point!

Gameplay and features

After you load this Games Global release up, you will see several buttons running down the right-hand side of the screen. The one at the bottom, featuring what looks like a stack of coins, introduces the betting menu to you. A slider bar and several predetermined bet values are visible for you to choose from. Select your preferred bet and then return to the main game screen. 

Clicking on the large circular button on the right of the reels spins them. A result is produced, and if you match three or more symbols on one or more of the slot’s 30 paylines, you win a payout. Combinations must run from the leftmost reel and proceed to the right to qualify.

You can also use the slot’s lightning bolt button to speed up the spins. Meanwhile, the three arrows in a circle are the game’s autoplay button. Use this to spin the reels up to 100 consecutive times at the same wager level.

Let’s talk about the bonus games you’ll find

Included amongst the standard symbols in Starlight Kiss is a wild symbol. This is represented by the slot’s own logo. If it appears on the reels, it will substitute for all other basic symbols, helping you to create wins.

There is also a scatter symbol, which is that of the lovers’ mansion meeting place. Scatters can show up anywhere, and as long as two or more are visible in any position, you receive a payout.

Three, four or five of the scatter symbols appearing will activate the game’s free spins round. You’ll receive 14 of these to play through, and all wins forming in the bonus round are multiplied by 2.

The final addition is the Romance Bonus, triggered with the appearance of three bonus symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4. This bonus game offers you the chance to win up to a 10x round multiplier. Simply fill the Romance Meter to increase the win. You do this by choosing three out of the 10 objects on the screen. These award both credit values and hearts. The hearts are responsible for filling the Romance Meter, increasing the multiplier.

Starlight Kiss comes with a 96.52% RTP rate, which presents as something positive, as anything above the 96% mark is considered the industry standard. 

It also features a maximum payout possibility of 600x your stake, which, for a slot released in 2013, was probably considered quite high. However, when compared to today’s slots, it’s not all that much. Especially when you consider the average for video slots brings a 5,000x win. 

The slot operates with a medium level of volatility. This means that it is ideal for many types of players, although those with considerably low bankrolls may not enjoy it, with the minimum bet being 30p per spin. The maximum bet is €150 per spin which is a decent range, so if you place responsible bets on the slot you’ll be sure to have an enjoyable time.

How was Starlight Kiss on mobile?

While playing Starlight Kiss on my Android smartphone was possible, opening the slot here was a tad underwhelming. The graphics weren’t any worse, and the screen wasn’t overly cluttered, but I just felt the shape of the reels left much to be desired as it barely filled the screen. 

The background was still present but didn’t give me the excitement I was looking for. A ratio adjustment was sorely needed, unfortunately. You can still access this slot on mobile casinos via iOS and other tablets as well.

Why do I think Starlight Kiss stands out?

I think this online slot from Games Global stands out because of how well it has stood the test of time so far. Many releases from 2013 are no longer operational or aren’t played by many people. Starlight Kiss is different, though. It maintains a high-quality set of graphics, entertaining gameplay and a couple of thrilling special features.

I love the Romance Bonus round – so many games no longer include pick me rounds, so it’s nice to see it in this one. Yes, the maximum win being higher could certainly bolster the game. But even without this, Starlight Kiss is still enjoyable as a classic five-reel video slot.
