The theme that runs behind this online casino slot is one of a Chinese trader floating along the river. His stall, selling tropical fruits for you to buy, is set up onboard a wooden raft. Whenever you want something, you just sail down the river on your canoe to trade with him. 

From dragonfruit and oranges to even more tropical fruits, this trader has it all. With a bag of gold coins for his profits, he stands guard at the top of the reels, with Chinese lanterns streaming across either side. The blurred background depicts colourful houses to the left and right of the reels.

It’s a stunning game design and one that catches your eye straight away. All the relevant buttons for gameplay run along the bottom of the game screen, making it a simple affair to enjoy Trader’s Fortune. The sound of a crowd can be heard in the background when the reels are still, but once you spin them, the soundtrack springs to life, presenting a merry scene.

Gameplay and mechanics

When you start playing this Popiplay slot, you will see a simple layout on display. This means you can customise your bet without issue. To do this, you need to turn your attention to the Total Bet section, where you will see + and – buttons on display. Using those, you can select a preferred wager of between €0.20 and €24 per spin.

Upon determining the stake that suits you the best, you can spin the five reels. For this, you need to click on the large circular button in the bottom-right corner. Once the spin ends, a result will be on the screen. Matching three or more identical symbols on one or more of the 15 paylines in Trader’s Fortune results in a win. The combination must start on the leftmost reel and proceed to the right.

Popiplay has included an autoplay function for you to use if you want, too. This is accessible by clicking on the button with the ‘A’ on it. This did a good job of making it feel more immersive, however, this is less accessible to play in my opinion. The ease of playing in portrait mode with one hand usually can’t be beaten.

Nonetheless, the graphics worked well on mobile, with the symbols, colours and animations impressively popping out of the screen. The controls were all a good size, easy to use and see
