Theme and graphics

Even though the Egyptian theme has featured significantly in the online slot world, it’s a theme that I still enjoy. Thus, I was quite enticed to play King of Alexandria: Mega Moolah by Games Global. It’s evident that the developer, Neon Valley Studios, has put a lot of effort into its creation. 

The graphics have been brought to a new level, and I enjoyed the design of the background in the slot. With the inclusion of the progressive jackpot, I found myself liking what it has to offer even more. I also found it easy to navigate around the game layout.

Egypt shines through, granting a magical experience

It’s very clear from the get-go that ancient Egypt is the focus for this slot. Its game title tells you as much in the first instance. Once you load the slot up, this becomes even more evident, with stunning graphics highlighting it. 

The background, for example, depicts a large pyramid, with the entrance to it being visible behind the five reels. Fire pits line the sides of the walkway up to the entrance, as do vast walls and columns built thousands of years ago.

If you look at the slot’s reels, you’ll see some inviting symbols, which further enhance the base theme. They include gemstones emblazoned with ankhs, scarabs and more, with an ornate number 7 and a phoenix serving as the highest paying standard additions. There is also a thematic piece of music playing in the background, which is decorated with jingles every time a win forms.

Gameplay and mechanics

It is key to note the slot’s return to player (RTP) rate stands at 86.78%, which is very low, when you consider the average for video slots today is 96%. The game is also a medium volatility release, which means wins will hit on an average basis and will provide standard payouts overall.

I found the fact the slot features a selection of progressive jackpots a strong positive. Although the graphics and gameplay came with a similar quality on mobile as they did on desktop, King of Alexandria: Mega Moolah did not feel adequately optimized for the mobile casinos I played it at by any means. 

This was mainly because the reels and controls were set out much the same as the desktop, and while this was still functional, this meant the symbols and controls were simply too small. Occupying only one-third of the screen with the rest only covered by the background, this slot was quite disappointing, a surprise, to say the least, given its developer.
