From the title of this online casino slot, you’d expect to see rubies, diamonds and other gemstones galore – or maybe that was just my mind picturing shining trinkets aplenty? In any event, they don’t appear in such large quantities within Blasting Rubies by BF Games. 

Instead, the reels are dominated by symbols of fruit and other classic images. There is a background which looks like a vastly magnified ruby, displaying almost kaleidoscopic shapes in red and blue. But in the first instance, that’s the only reference to the game’s title there is.

Blasting Rubies also comes with a high-energy soundtrack integrated into it. In fact, it’s parallel with disco music, making you want to have a bit of a dance in your chair while you play the slot. That’s not a bad thing, as it’s good to keep the energy up in slot gameplay!

Gameplay and features

The simplicity of this slot, which I enjoy continues across to its reel layout. There are five reels for you to spin, and they are joined by three rows. Included in the slot across that set of reels is a collection of 20 paylines. It is across those lines that you create your wins.

Paylines run from the leftmost reel of the game to the right, meaning all winning combinations need to start from reel one. A combination must also consist of at least three identical symbols, and only the highest paying combination per payline will be awarded to you.

Fruit symbols – a plum, an apple, a lemon, an orange, a watermelon and grapes – are joined by symbols of a star, a bell and a red 7. It is these that form the base game winning combinations. Only in the case of the red 7 will a payout occur from two symbols appearing on a payline from left to right.

Whenever a win does land, the symbols included in such will explode and disappear from the reels. New ones then cascade down, and if another win forms, the process is repeated.

The wild in the slot is the ruby heart, and it appears only on the middle three reels. If it lands, it substitutes for all the previously mentioned symbols. Whenever the wild does appear and contributes to a win, it expands to cover the whole of the reel it is on.

My experience playing Blasting Rubies by BF Games

I must admit that I was quite sceptical about playing Blasting Rubies at first. Not just because its game title doesn’t reveal much about it, but because I saw fruit symbols on the reels. So many games utilise these symbols and many of them don’t differentiate from each other too much. Yet when I made my first spins of the reels, it grew on me a little.

I really must highlight the impressive nature of the graphics in the game. Yet also, the cascading reels hitting when you create a win adds to the overall appeal, too. Also involved in the game is the Bonus Wheel symbol, which can show up on reels 1, 3 and 5. If you spin three of these onto the reels anywhere, you activate the Bonus Wheel round. Now we’re talking, right?

In the Bonus Wheel feature, you spin a wheel to receive free spins with a multiplier. The outer wheel features up to 10 free spins and the inner wheel has multipliers of up to 5x for you to win. The cascades remain in effect during free spins, too!

Something I really enjoy about the Blasting Rubies slot is how compatible it is with mobile devices.
