How Did I Find Colt Lightning Slot’s Gameplay?

Colt Lightning looks like a revamp of other popular games from the Play'n Go stable. So is it a runner worthy of a place in the best online slots, or does it fall at the first fence? Read on to see what I made of it.

That said, some demos are a bit annoying at times. They give you hardly any credit and don’t land the features to tell you how the game works. Happily, that’s not the case with Colt Lightning. You get a healthy demo balance, and I triggered all the features, so I got to understand them. Note to other developers - this made me want to try the real game!

If you’re looking for fancy graphics, innovative gameplay, and lots of bells and whistles, then Colt Lightning probably isn’t the game for you. But if you enjoy traditional slots with specific features that land regularly, then Colt Lightning will fit the bill. 

Once you’ve made your deposit via the usual payment options, you can jump in to win real money. There’s no steep learning curve, and the controls are simple and intuitive. Choose your stake, set autoplay on or off, set your limits, and off you go. Online slots don’t come any easier than Colt Lightning!

Technical Analysis

Colt Lightning is set in a North American desert with wild animals, rocky outcrops and cacti. It’s named after a horse struck by a thunderbolt from the heavens. The lightning strike turns the regular Colt into a Super Colt, forming the basis of the game. 

The graphics and soundtrack are fine, without being exceptional, and to be honest, I think they could both be improved. Although this is a new slot, it hasn’t moved on that much from previous Pay n Go games. I guess the company is just following the mantra of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” - and there is something to be said for having a feel and format that are friendly and familiar.

What Bonuses and Free Spins Can I Find on Colt Lightning Slot?

The starting format of Colt Lightning has five reels arranged in a 3-4-4-4-3 grid, with 576 winning combinations. Features are triggered randomly. The first is Colt Strike, which results in additional Colt symbols (although annoyingly, given all the fanfare, this doesn’t necessarily result in a win!). 

Next up is Colt Re-spins, activated when you get a lucky horseshoe on the middle reel. The reels all gain one in height, meaning the Re-spin gives you a greater chance of winning. If you’re lucky, you can get a maximum of 3 horseshoes in a row, making a grid of 6-7-7-7-6 reels, with 12,348 chances to win. And if you’re super lucky, you may get a Colt Strike during your Re-spins. 

The final feature is Super Colt Spins. This feature combines the previous two bonuses and gives up to 100 Free Spins. The Colt symbol becomes a Super Colt, worth double the normal value. It is possible to get all three features simultaneously, although I’ve never been that fortunate personally!

Colt Lightning Online Slot Layout

The symbols on Colt Lightning run from 10 to Ace, followed by higher value wild animals of the Snake, Wolf, Cougar and Eagle. The most valuable symbols are the Colt and Super Colt. These symbols are supplemented by a wild, a horseshoe which starts Colt Re-Spins, and the three scatters which trigger Free Spins. You need a minimum of three adjacent symbols, from left to right, to win.

Our Experience With Colt Lightning

For me, Colt Lightning doesn’t set the world on fire. It’s too similar to other Play-n-Go games like Beasts of Fire. That said, it’s straightforward, entertaining and easy to play. So whilst it wouldn’t be my first go-to choice, I still like playing the game on those occasions when I want something uncomplicated and not too demanding.
